I always feel very good to be away from the city. My first
trek of the season was up to Namche Bazzar which was a very good start. This
spring season the trekking started a bit late and trail was not that busy comparing
to the previous season. Most of the lodges we stayed were not full and the
owner said that, they were having less business than last year and they
received about 30% less tourist. I guess, the cause of the fewer tourists in the
Everest region can be weather and the trouble at Lukla in last October 2010.
Weather was not supporting us very well, every day was cloudy, raining and snowing
in late afternoon. Because of that, flights were not operating fully. But while
we were returning from Namche we met lot more trekkers heading to Everest Base
Camp and Gokyo valley as the weather seemed more stable. We did a great flight
from Lukla. The sky was very clear and we had wonderful view from plane.
Four days trek up to Namche Bazzar was absolutely remarkable.
The trail was not new for me. I go there at least two times in a year. But
every time I go there I enjoy a lot. First two days, the weather was not that
good, partly cloudy from the morning and raining and snowing. But still walking
through the Dudhkoshi valley passing by beautiful villages, crossing long
suspension bridges was great journey. There were plenty of wild flowers blossom
and it captured our eyes one after another. I might say "trek of the
flowers". I hadn't taken my Camera with me. Because of that I don't have
single picture of the trek. I felt kind
of disappointment after getting there. When we reached Namche it had already started
to snow continually for about two and half hours. About three O' clock in the
afternoon the sky started becoming clear. The view around Namche Bazzar and
closest mountains were absolutely wonderful. Everything looked so fresh and all
the hills look like the Snow Mountains. Next day early morning we hiked to get
a view point next to the Army barrack. The sky was very clear that day and had
a great view of Mt. Everest, Lhoste, Nupste, Amadablam, Thamserku, Kusumkagaru,
Kongde Ridge and some other neighbor snow cap mountains. A 59 year old woman
from U.S. A. nearly cried after seeing such a amazing view and she jumped
several times and hugged her son and me a couple of times. It was totally a
great morning.
Third day we returned to Manzo after lunch to make the next
day easy. The way back was the same trail and the view was now in the opposite
direction. The third night at Manzo was the coldest night on the trek, maybe it
was because of the last several day rain and snow which caused the temperature
to drop. It was -2º in the morning. Anyway, the trip happened very well and me
and my clients enjoyed a lot and there was a happy ending……………………………
