The last spring season was not great and not bad as well.
But I did three wonderful trips, two short trips up to Namche Bazzar and one up
to Everest Base Camp.
The Everest Base Camp trek started 30th of April
with two British women. We had very early morning flight to Lukla at 6:30AM. We
got to airport at 5:30AM an hour advance and we did all the formalities to fly
to Lukla and we walked to the waiting room. Unfortunately that day, weather was
not good in KTM and Lukla. There was quite a heavy rain in the morning in KTM
and our flight was delayed. About 11:35
all the passenger board to aircraft and immediately took off. About five minutes
later, the plane entered into the cloud and more than 20 minutes we did not see
anything. The flight was a bit frightening; no one knew where we were flying. Thank
god the pilot diverted the plane to KTM, which I only knew when I saw the KTM
valley and we landed in KTM airport after 45mins. We waited another two and a
half hour at the airport and again we boarded to the plane about 3:45PM. This
time the sky was much clearer and the view was amazing from plane, right after
rain the landscape looked very fresh and beautiful. We landed in Lukla at
quarter pass four. Comparatively, weather was quite cold, maybe because of the rain.
But view around there was awesome and we were very happy to be there at that
day. We spent the first night there.
Next day 1st May, we began our actual trek early
in the morning. The first seven days trek up to Lobuche were very fine, we
enjoyed every single day and had a lot of fun. Rachel and Gill are very good
people and first time I met somebody who laughs so much and are happy. They
were really good travelers. Weather was not great at the beginning. First few
days were raining and partly cloudy every day. But we were so lucky; we saw
mountains each day in the morning or late afternoon. Especially the day we went
to Everest View Hotel and climbed to Ngagarjang peak. Both days weather was
pretty awesome in the morning and we had absolutely great view from Everest
view Hotel and Ngagarjang
Peak. The day we trekked
to Everest Base Camp was beautiful too. In the morning it was quite foggy and
cold. But after nine, sky got clear and we did great walk to base camp. Rachel
and Gill enjoyed very much. The base camp was bazzar of tents and climbers and
their crews were on their way, looked busy, tired and optimistic. We spent
about 30 minutes. I was looking my cousin brother (who is involving in Everest
expeditions) to give him energy drinks. But I did not find him there and he did
not receive my call as well. I met some
people from my village and some other friends, but no one saw him. I was carrying
12 cans of energy drinks for him. I was quite disappointed and had to carry the
drink back to Gorakshep. Next day 9th
May early in the morning, we climbed Kalapatar 5545m. The morning weather was very
good. The cloud was below us and above us was just mountains and blue sky,
gorgeous weather. Gill said, she was struggling in that morning. But I did not
find, she was struggling while climbing. It was above 5000m and we were climbing
the Peak, every one can struggle. Both Rachel and Gill did very good as they
are fit. We got to the top at 8AM and had wonderful time and the view was
totally remarkable. The cloud below us made even perfect scene. I can never
forget Rachel's giggle on top of the Kalapatar.
We gave off the Cho-la
Pass, because of a day
lost at the beginning. We trekked back
to Phorche and got back to Lukla a day earlier. We met American Ambassador at
Phorche and spent the night at the same lodge. Three of us talked with
Ambassador and his wife shortly and I enjoyed Sherpa dance (shyebru) in the
evening. 13th May in the morning we flew back to KTM. It was a great
trip with great people…..the trip was nice one….hehehehe………….
